Other creativities and getting lots of inspiration!

I'm getting ready for a week Buitenkunst in Drente. Last year I did my holiday here for the first time and this year we are heading back. It's sooo great! Camping in the middle of the woods and all day workshops in singing, dance, percussion, performance, visual arts, anything. There's only warm water, no electricity, nothing. So in the evening, some groups who worked on something all day, give a performence. With light from torches, no mics.. Every evening amazing again.

The first evening came with the biggest thunder and rain shower, we have had for a long time in Holland. Me and my friend were at the central point field, to hear the welcome word of the crew. Within 1 minute we had to stand in a tent (everywhere on the area are circus tents, so the workshops are outside, in open air but with rain in these tents), within 15 minutes people had to push the roof of the tent because it bend in. In half an hour we stepped outside the tent, in the grass and sank away up to our ankles. While walking to the tent, we had to walk over a sand road. Here we sank away almost up to our knees. I was so glad the tents were still there and didn't float away.. haha.. We went to sleep, as much as we could, and the next morning all the rain was gone. I could't believe it because just a few hours earlier everything was water. But a lot of people stand in a hole, had a leak tent or didn't close the front and came back after the rain, but too late.. Gladly we had the best weather after that for the whole week. No rain, just sun and 25 degrees..

Exposition from the children group. Portrets made with pen and inkt. Infants, children en youth have their own program and groups. And perform and expose the most beautiful things.


End of the afternoon. Two singing teachers did a short performance/jamming session together.


Last evening, a BIG performance with music, dance, singing, a self written piece and this all performed by multiple groups together. Over 150 people including children and youth groups. Beautiful! Amazing what people can make in just a day.

Potato bag from Guusje

Joehoeeee, today I received the giveaway I won at Guusjes. My own potato bag! I love it! It´s great and beautiful! And the little wooden shoes are soooo cute! Thank you so much Guusje!

More baby hats

As I'm telling for a while now, I'm busy with a new website including a webshop. I want it filled with knitted and crocheted hats, scarfs, flowervases, bags, cushions, blankets... Name it and I'm going to have it and all HandMaid Liset own designs. And these little hats are going to be in it. Personally I love them!
Still it's going to take a while before the website is finished. That's because the website is going to have another purpose too. Something big, real hugh and I can't tell anything about it. Hope soon I can!

Al een tijdje vertel ik jullie dat ik bezig met een nieuwe website inclusief een webwinkel. Ik ga deze vullen met alleen gebreide en gehaakte mutsen, sjaals, bloemvazen, tassen, kussens, dekens... Noem 't maar en ik heb 't en allemaal eigen HandMaid Liset ontwerpen. En deze lieve mutsjes gaan ook zeker in de winkel. Persoonlijk vind ik ze superlief!
Alsnog gaat 't nog wel even duren voor de website klaar is. Dat komt omdat de website ook een ander doel gaat krijgen. Iets groots, echt groot en daar kan ik nog steeds niks over zeggen. Ik hoop dat ik dat snel wel kan!

Babies in winter

My friends and others in my surrounding are all pregnant. Babies are coming in summer, some in the fall and some in winter. So I changed my hook for some needles and made a wool winter baby hat with some great earflaps on them. And as you can see, I ate my melon, so I don't have a 'baby hat' anymore.. hihi .. I love this model and definitely gonna make more.. I think, so from the head, 5 babies are coming in the winter.
And my Sunday was good! Thanks! Hope yours was too!


Mijn vrienden en vele anderen in mijn omgeving zijn zwanger. Er komen babies in de zomer, sommige in de herfst en een aantal in de winter. Dus ik heb even mijn haaknaald verwisseld voor breinaalden en heb een baby muts gemaakt voor de winter, incl oorflappen! En mijn meloen is op, dus ik heb geen 'baby hoofd' meer.. hihi.. Ik vind het een geweldig model en ik ga er zeker meer van maken... Maargoed, ik denk, zo uit het hoofd, dat er alleen in de winter al 5 babies komen.
Oh en mijn zondag was goed! Dank jullie wel! Ik hoop dat jullie ook een fijn weekend hadden.

Bleegghh mood..

My mood goes perfect with todays weather... One minute it rains and the next minute the temperature rises to thirty degrees because of all the sun. And my mood goes along.. And I'm doing nothing, all day now, I'm really working against myself. You know these days? Bleeggh, bad Saturday for me. Hope your weekend is better!

Mijn humeur gaat goed samen op met het weer.. Het ene moment regent het en een seconde later dan is het bijna dertig graden omdat de zon zo giga schijnt. En mijn stemming gaat ermee samen.. Ik doe al de hele niks! Echt, zo irritant als je jezelf in de weg zit? Ken je die dagen? Bleeggh, slechte zaterdag voor mij. Ik hoop dat jou dag/weekend beter is!

Baby hat

Another project that needed to be finished.. One of my dearest friends became an uncle for the first time, and he asked me to design a small hat for his nephew. So I did but I never designed such a small hat before, so I had to do some research, math and figured out this pattern and this colorcombination. This one is perfect (on a mellon!) for my friends nephew. He's already a few weeks old, so perfect size. I made one for a pregnant friend too (forgot to take a picture), that was a bit smaller, perfect for a 'totally' newborn.

And did you all, already heard about The give away I won from Guusje!?! Beautiful story! And yeah I won!! Soon I have a beautiful, stamped handmade potato bag!! Yeah!! Lucky me!!

And yes, yes, soon I'll have a new give away, as promised but I'm guessing that's going to be after my holiday!

Nog een project wat ik moest afmaken.. Een van mijn liefste vrienden is voor het eerst oom geworden, en vroeg me of ik een muts wilde maken voor zijn kleine neefje. Dus dat heb ik gedaan maar ik had nog nooit zo'n kleine muts ontworpen. Dus het kostte even wat tijd om de juiste info te vinden, de wiskunde te doen en dit patroon uit te tekenen, met uiteindelijk deze kleurencombi. Deze is prima (op een galia meloen!) voor het neefje van mijn vriend. Hij is alweer een paar weken, dus prima maat. Ik had er ook eentje gemaakt voor een zwangere vriendin (vergeten foto van te maken) en die heb ik kleiner gemaakt, perfect voor een echte 'hele nieuwe' kleine baby.

En hebben jullie het al gehoord?? Dat ik Guusjes give away heb gewonnen?? Geweldig en mooi verhaal! En yeah, ik heb dus gewonnen! Snel zal ik de trotse eigenaresse zijn van een mooie, handgemaakte aardappelzak! Yeah!! Gelukkige ik!

En ja, ja, ik ga snel ook, de beloofde, give away houden maar ik denk dat dit wel na mijn vakantie gaat worden!

Bags in progress

I’m finishing or unraveling a lot of the projects I’m working on. I wanna have a clean mind, and I need to finish some items too (babies don’t stay in..), so I’m finishing or pull all out and start over.

Here’s a bag that’s in my mind for a long time now. It’s not finished yet but it only needs a way of closing. The idea/design is to have the flaps crocheted together on both sides, so you have this, kind of, envelop idea. But I’m doubting now.. Just two flaps which fall over the bag, for a bit is nice too. Just a button and a string and done.. Or crochet the sides together..

Another project was the bag made from the hoooked yarn. See a few posts back (and picture of the purple bag below). I made it till so far but I almost got a hernia making it (and as I already said, the patterns have so much mistakes in it). Really this stuff is too heavy to crochet with and therefore way to heavy to carry around as a bag. So I’m pulling out this one. One day I’ll come up with an idea to make something out of it, but not now.

Ik ben een hoop projecten aan het afmaken of uithalen. Ik wil een leeg hoofd hebben, en er moeten ook gewoon echt een paar items af (baby’s blijven niet in de buik zitten, zeg maar..), dus ik ben aan het afmaken en uithalen geslagen.

Dit is een tas die al een tijdje in mijn hoofd zat en waarvan ik een deel al had gemaakt. Schoudertas model, tijdschriftmaat, met bodem en zijkanten en een dichte sluiting. Hij is nog niet geheel af want ik moet de sluiting/bovenkant nog steeds definitief maken. Mijn oorspronkelijke idee is om de twee flappen, die doorlopen aan de bovenkant, met de zijkanten aan elkaar vast te haken. Krijg je een soort envelop idee. Nu zitten die flappen nog niet vast aan elkaar. En ik heb het wel gedaan maar weer uitgehaald want ik twijfel.. Dit zo is ook goed. Alleen nog een knoopje en touwtje om te sluiten.. Of toch de zijkanten aan elkaar vastmaken..

Een ander project was de tas die ik ging maken, van het Hoooked garen. Zie een paar berichten terug (en foto van de paarse tas hieronder). Ik heb hem tot zover gemaakt en dat kostte me al bijna een hernia (en ik vind het echt superstom dat de patronen, die je dan krijgt, van geen meter kloppen). Echt, dit spul is veel te zwaar om mee te haken, laat staan dat je er mee gaat rondzeulen in de vorm van een tas. Dus deze ga ik uithalen. Op een dag kom ik wel op een idee om er iets anders van te maken, maar niet nu.

Weekend things..

Ready to go to visit friends for the weekend... Made a set of bracelets as a small present. Absolutly J.'s colors, and I made three different sizes, so I guess she's going to like them.

But two things for you all:

* I'm behind with my email and will answer all of you after the weekend.

* For the people who wants the pattern from the crocheted hat... Please send me your email adress! I'm not going to publish the pattern on this blog but will mail it to you.

Klaar om te vertrekken voor een weekendje met vrienden.. Ik heb een setje met armbanden gemaakt. Absoluut J.'s kleuren, en ik heb drie verschillende maten gemaakt, dus ik neem aan dat er tenminste eentje tussen zit die ze leuk gaat vinden.

Maar twee dingen voor jullie:

* Ik loop achter met mijn mail maar ik ga alles na het weekend beantwoorden.

* En voor de mensen die graag het patroon willen voor de gehaakte muts van een paar weken terug.. Mail me jou mailadres dan! Ik ga het patroon namelijk niet publiceren op mijn blog maar ik ga het wel mailen naar de mensen die willen en ik heb niet iedereen zijn mail.

Graduation day

I’m exhausted… Today was graduation day for a lot of students I taught over the last three years. And this year I started with a third year mentor group, I was also a mentor of in the first year. Too bad I could only work with them for three months this school year, of course I wanted to be there. And to congratulate everybody.
They all looked beautiful and it was great to see everybody again. Also hard to say goodbye to students you’ve been three years involved with. And proud to see how everybody grew up from children to adolescents.

And I was soooo nervous. This was only the third time back at school/work and the first time to see a lot of colleagues and a lot of students again. Really I said something for the group but I can’t remember a thing. Oh, it went fine but I was never so nervous before. I kept saying that too.. But too bad, it was a good day.

I made them bracelets with beads with their names on. Attached on a card with a story written on about the connection between life and different bracelets. Besides the name bracelet they all could choose a crocheted one.

Ik ben kapot.. Vandaag was er de diplomering op school en veel van de studenten, waar ik de afgelopen drie jaar intensief les aan heb gegeven, kregen hun diploma. Dit jaar startte ik met een derde jaars mentor groep, waar ik ook mentor van was in het eerste jaar. Helaas kon ik dit schooljaar maar drie maanden met ze werken, uiteraard wilde ik wel bij de diplomering zijn. En iedereen feliciteren.
Ze zagen er allemaal heel mooi en trots uit en het was fijn om iedereen, na zo’n lange tijd weer te zien. Tegelijk is het ook heel dubbel omdat je afscheid neemt van een heleboel studenten waar je drie jaar intensief mee hebt gewerkt. Maar trots ook omdat je op zo’n dag zier, en erbij stil staat hoe ze allemaal ontwikkeld zijn van pubers tot mooie adolescenten.

En ik was zo gigantisch nerveus. Dit was pas de derde keer dat ik weer op school was en de eerste keer om een heleboel collega’s tegelijk te zijn én een heleboel studenten. Echt, ik heb wat gezegd voor mijn eigen klas maar ik kan me er weinig van herinneren. Ohh, het ging verder prima maar ik was nog nooit eerder zo nerveus. En dat bleef ik ook gewoon zeggen.. Maar jammer dan, het was een mooie dag.

Ik had verschillende armbanden voor ze gemaakt waaronder een armband van houten kralen met hun naam erop. Vastgemaakt aan een kaart waar ik een verhaaltje heb geschreven over het verband tussen het leven, ervaringen, mensen en verschillende armbanden. En ze mochten zelf een gehaakte armband uitzoeken. Ook de nog-niet geslaagden en degene die gestopt zijn, die er gewoon waren, wat dan zo tof is.

Experiments with textile hardener

Remember these? I made them a few weeks ago. The bright blue one, was a bit too big at the ends. So that was a perfect cloth to experiment with.. This is it now...

Kan je je deze nog herinneren? Ik heb die een paar weken terug gemaakt. De helder blauwe was een beetje te groot aan de eindes. Dus perfect om mee te experimenteren.. Dit is h'm nu..

I wanted to try this for a long time now. Play and experiment with textile hardener.. And that's it, for me. Playing! It's really nice to 'paint' a crocheted item with the polytex. It's not done yet. As you may see, there are still light colored and darker colored pieces, they need to be painted again. Also the shape isn't too excited but again, this is an experiment. And if you used this before, and know how to make a shape without the textile getting stucked on the model, tell me!!?!
Ik wilde dit al een hele tijd proberen. Wat spelen en experimenteren met textielverharder... En dat is het voor nu.. Spelen! Want het is zo leuk om gehaakt werk te 'verven' met polytex. Het is nog niet klaar. Zoals je kan zien, zijn er nog donkere en lichte stukken, dus ik moet nog een keertje schilderen. En de vorm is ook nog niet al te spannend maar het is een experiment. En als jij dit nou ooit al eens hebt gedaan en weet hoe je een vorm kan krijgen zonder dat het textiel op het model vastgeplakt blijft, vertel het me??!!

Ohh and I'm working on a new give away! But be patience, I'm busy! I have some presents to make including some small graduation presents. Tomorrow some of my students out of my mentor class are getting their diploma. I'm making small presents for them. Here's a small peak but I'll show you the end results later.
Ohh en ik ben aan het werken een nieuwe give away! Maar heb geduld, ik ben druk. Ik moet ook nog een boel cadeautjes maken waaronder wat kleine diplomeringscadeautjes. Morgen krijgen sommige studenten uit mijn mentorklas hun diploma. Ik ben kleine cadeautjes voor ze aan het maken. Hier een klein idee maar ik zal je het gehele resultaat later laten zien.

Bracelet - Something

It started on Sundaymorning with a idea to make a bracelet-something. Not a bracelet like ‘a bracelet’ but I don’t have another name yet. As you can see, the pyjama's are still on!

Het begon zondagmorgen met een idee om een armband-achtig-iets te maken. Niet zoals een 'armband' maar ik heb geen andere naam. En zoals je kunt zien, ik zit nog met pyjama aan!

In the evening the yarn got thinner and the design adjusted....

Tegen de avond werd het katoen dunner en het ontwerp ietsje aangepast...

This afternoon I created another one... A bit broader, striped, no picots.. so no classy but a more sporty model..

Vanmiddag maakte ik weer een ander model.. Een iets bredere, geen picots eraan... geen classy uitstraling maar meer sportief..

Saturday...

.....Saturday... a hot, hot Saturday..

... started with melon/oranges/strawberry smoothie and a bunch of magazine, a friend gave me yesterday, thanks A.....

..... it was so hot inside that my thermostat couldn't keep up with the heat any more....

... another smoothie and a hugh brow bread sandwich with 'osseworst', mosterd, fresh rucola and chive.... served on my new but really old, blue/white flowered tablewear that was from my grandma...


... dinner with a fresh salad with tomato, cucumber, old cheese, some pineapple, scrapped parmasan and a dressing from balsamico/mustard/honey/ginger and fresh herbs with baked potatos on the side.. (unfortunately I was almost finished when I thought about making a picture)

.. and in between I crocheted this new colorful cotton hat...
