balance

A week ago, sitting on my haunches, I lost my balance and bumped my head severely at the bottom of the stair rail. With immediatley vomiting and headaches as a result. Now, one week later, it's not too much better. Fortunately it is now just a headache but it is not pleasant. In fact, I have no time for it! Far too much to do for the opening! Way to much.

You know what the weird thing is. I have a strong, strong believe that what you feel fysical comes from the mind. Backpain? Do you have a lot of trouble to carry around? Can't eat? Are you full of something (that can be problems but we can't eat either when we are madly in love, isn't it?)? Or you can't stop eating? Are you eating yourself up, inside? Or do you wanna keep everything inside? Shoulderpain? A lot of weight on your shoulder? For me now.. I lost my balance because I'm walking on the edge of time and pressure. I bumped my head because it's too full. And yes, I'm trying hard to take it easy. On my way, I really do!! I promiss.

Here is already a little sneak peak from one of the collections that will be in the shop (next week I'll set an opening date!). Here the PURE collection. A collection with only items which are (hand)made with re-used 100% woolen blankets and sweaters.

HOW TO re-use your socks

So it's Spring! Time to open all the windows and put the house in good ventilation, time for a Spring cleaning and time to store the thickest winter clothing. For me, it means that I check the sock drawer for all the lonely and broken socks. This year I had quite a number ... Such a shame to throw away! So I re-used them and in less than half an hour I have made leg warmers out of all the lonely and broken socks. How do you do that?

Step 1: Of course, collect all your old and one paired socks. This was my catch. I subdivided mine into two groups. A group of synthetic, colored socks and one group with thicker socks, elastic socks. For today I used the thick wool socks for the legwarmers.

Step 2: Cut all the socks into little pieces. Just sheats of minimum 5 cm and maximum 10 to 12 cm. Leave out the holes and bad parts but check it all very carefully. There are mostly more good parts then bad. You can use the parts that are around the foot too! Don't forget to use the board tops again (I used two different boards for the top..) TIP: Wanna make new socks?? Don't forget to use two good foot parts and sew these on your new legwarmers at the end.

Step 3: Take one piece sock, right side out and slide another piece sock over it, right side facing inwards (so the right sides are against each other). Sew together using a stretch stitch (zigzag). Make a little seam in the last/bottom sock (and use a whole footpart if you wanna make new socks instead of legwarmers). If you have a locker machine you can use that one too!

Step 4: No more steps! Here's the result already. Easy and quik. You don't need to have sewing experience, it doesn't have to be neat.

100% easy - 100% sustainable - 100% reuse - definitely 100% original

Yarn testing (3)

Remember the yarn testing a few weeks ago? That cotton is great. Beautiful colors, great thickness, organic but one thing wasn't nice. The cotton made little pulls while working with it. A hugh bummer.. Still tried to work the yarn, made a pattern and gave some packages away for testing. The experiences were all the same. Great colors, great thickness, soft cotton but not nice to work with!

So I started a new search for cotton and that cotton was delivered last week, so the yarn testing is starting again. I think I have a great cotton. Too bad it isn't 100% organic but 50% but that's all. Further more it's perfect. Just perfect. Great colors, perfect thickness, very soft and nice to work with. Hope to give some test packages to the test team, this week. If so, then the first DIY kit will be in the shop, while opening half April!

bye bye Winter

Here, in Holland, the Sun is out more and more. Spring is really coming in! It's time to put the scarfs, mittens, hats and socks in the closet (yeah, my new cowl too..). Put the wool away, get the cotton again!

It's a winter-wrap-up.
Bye bye snow, cold, ice and dark days!

purple cowl

Last year I thrifted an amazing old pink winter coat. A classy, long thick coat which I wore a lot. And that is something I never expected because I never wear coats. Not in Summer, not in Winter, Fall or Spring. I just wear different layers of jackets but never a real coat. This coat is great and for the first time I really wear it but I never had a good scarf with it.

So at the end of the winter, when the first Spring sunshine is coming in I made a chunky, purple wool/acryl cowl to wear with the coat. No pattern, just figured it out while working. Love it! But I guess it's going in the closet, waiting for the next Winter..
Enjoy your Sunday!

daily things

What I never, never in my life will be, is a wall paperer. Never! It frustrates me, I have no patience for it and it is much too slow for me. It makes me mad!

In the last and upcoming weeks I take moments to work on the photography for the website and shop. I want a vintage wallpaper wall on some pictures, so I'm preparing to wallpaper. Here I am only trying to get the pattern right, but man! And then it curls again, then it rolls away and then I cut myself on the paper. Really, not my work! The result will be good, I hope..

Fortunately, we do find a solution for each broken machine (thank you all for your kind comments and emails!). Among the coffee machine ... Just looked up the jug again, bought a filter holder and tadaa, I can make coffee again. As simple as it can be!
But instead of pushing a button, I must wait now for the water to boil. And that's difficult for someone like me (with adhd) but we have a solution for that too! I always get going with my magnet words on the fridge. The result of this week ..

Colour bombs

Is it a blanket? No. Is it a scarf? No. Do you like what you see so far? Yes? Love the smashing colours? Yes? That's good because within a few weeks you'll see what it is and you'll be able to buy one. Don't wanna buy one but make one yourself??? YOU CAN!!!
There will be a complete DIY kit with the cotton yarns, a hook and pattern!!! Ohhh really you have no idea how bad I want the website and webshop to go into the air!! Patience, patience.. I know. Rome wasn't build in one day.. And God needed seven days too but it would be nice if He would give some more patience too.. at least for me..

Fell in love with this vintage fabric! In love too?? Hold on to your love! The shop will have a variety of products made with these vintage fabrics but I will sell (limited) vintage fabrics too. Need some (more) patience too? hihi..
