Knit and crochet present idea

Do you have a friend that knit or crochet? A friend who wants to learn to knit or crochet? Or who you want to inspire to start? Then make a knit and crochet bouquet!
Make it as sustainable as possible! I bought a flowerpot in the thriftstore and some floral foam (but if you have a scrap of styrofoam left, use that!) to pin the needles in. All the needles and yarn, I used are from my own collection (a set double pointed needles, one pair of straight needles and three crochet hooks).
To finish the present, I made a voucher for a knitting/crochet lesson by me, included in a brand new how-to-knit book!

So check all your needles, hooks and yarn, your collection of flowerpots or make a trip to the thriftstore. Inspire to knit and crochet!

Scraps

Scraps of fabric. I save almost everything and only the little pieces end up in the trash. Pieces from 2 x 2 cm, 3 cm and 15 long, it doesn't matter I save and now I have all these shoeboxes filled with scraps of fabric. Turned it into a project, I'm almost done and it's going to be a great item. But no time this weekend. My little niece is turning 1. So we have to eat cake, sing happy birthday, celibrate and give away birtday kisses.
Enjoy your weekend!

2re5

2re5
to re•vive
verb revived re•vived, reviving re•viv•ing, re•vives
revivere

1. to come or bring back to a healthy or vigorous condition after a decline
2. to come or bring back into use or attention, renew in the mind
3. to become, make or restore valid, effective, or operative again
4. to come or bring to mind again
5. to produce or exhibit again after an interval, return to use

So I can tell, that 2re5, is going to be the name of my label. And reviving is what the label is all about. Breathe in new life in old materials and textiles, bring back crafts and handmade goods, recycle and reconstruct clothing and use wastematerials to make new products.

There will be different collections of mostly textile products for fashion and interior, all handmade. If you come here more often you would know that one collection is a line that's purely based on reviving 100% wool blankets. Above are some of the finished products that will be in the store. Soon I'll tell you more about the other collections too. Be patience! (although I guess that's more said to myself.. hahah)

Oh, and I thought I'd show you this.. Yeah, that's my belly! I'm really, really skinny. Not something I choice to be!! Really, I would pay to get 5 kilograms more weight (which would make me 50 kilo, which is a weight I never had, so you'll get the idea). Being skinny can be difficult. Not only for the comments people make.. Are you sure, you are eating enough? Grrrr!! Really, there was a time (not anymore) I didn't use a bathroom after dinner with others. I did't want people to think I would throw up after eating.

But anyway.. sometimes being so skinny is difficult with shopping. Boots are always too big on my legs, shirts are too big on the arms and not all labels have a xs size. Like HEMA! They don't have xs and they don't have small underwear. But here is, were I can make skinny nice. I buy children's underwear from the hema. I love, love, love their colourful underwear and it fits me!! I'm completly happy with my new birdy shirt! (that comes with matching underpants with pipes, one with birds and one red dotted... but heej, there are boundaries in what I'm showing..haha)

Apple green baret

Bought this apple green phildar wool on sale. Loved the color but it's a 3,5 mm yarn. So I used three threads at the same time, used crochethook 9 mm and made a thick baret. I think it turned out fine. And the 'live' color is better then the picture..
Enjoy your Sunday!

Zep

Sorry, here's yet another post to promote someone. Or in this case a lot of someonesssssss!! Let me explain.. My mom's neighbor works for KidsRights. KidsRights is a Dutch organization which gives help to OUR most vulnerable children. KidsRights recruits attention and money for these children, in different projects all over the world.

In 2007 they opened a 'Cuttle Factory' in South Africa near Johannesburg. A factory where jobs are created and environmental and child friendly hugs/toys are getting produced. This is the factory were 'Zep' every day is created. He is a beautiful cuddle toy, on which all the profits entirly go back to the factory and projects around it.

Our 'Sint' had been there (and Santa has to go too!) maybe you've seen that in some tv shows!!!! See the lovely video with Sint here (you can watch it with your children!!!) and make sure Sint/Santa is buying one for the kids. And see in the video that your money is spend really, really well. And you can make it a Sinterklaas/Christmas for OUR kids and their families all year...

Art in the family

Creativity runs in the family.. haha! A far away nephew, from my dad's side, is a real artist. He works with wood to make organic shaped objects but he also creates extraordinary costumes. Both are real passions. For that last passion, making costumes, he entered a international contest, the World of Wearable arts in New Zealand and not only did he have to come to NZ, because he was nominated, he won too (amongst real big names and designers)!
Above is the dress without the light, below with the light. And here is a link to a small report on tv Gelderland where you can see more of his (wood) work. It's in Dutch but it's worth to take a look! Please notice the beautiful, beautiful crib for their new born baby, at the end!!

(And thanks for your sweet reactions on my 'sick' sewingmachine. She's better.. joepie! I finally can pick her up tomorrow..)

Still no machine..

Found this lovely piece of needlework in the thriftstore which I wanna use in making a pillow.

As well as these fabrics.. The red/white is a beautiful knitted fabric and the green one is a woven tablecloth. Can't wait to use these fabrics but my sewingmachine is still 'sick'. Hope her 'operation' is going good..

So in my spare time, where I can allow myself to craft, I crochet...

...and enjoy my new thrifted wintercoat.

Sick (or just out of order)

After I finished the assignment for Zeeman, I decided not to take anymore assignments or custom orders untill my company stands completly. But sometimes you can't refuse, so I took the job to make a bunch of cushions for someone. Last Friday I noticed my sewingmachine lost her thread tension, while working on the last two seems!! Tried to fix it but neehhh, didn't work. Saturday, with a new mood I tried it again, but neehh.. So this morning I brought her to the 'sewingmachine doctor'. Hope she will be better soon.

Scraps, color magnets

You have, one, all these scraps of felt and you have, two, ugly magnets on your refrigerator. Well, that makes three, a little craft to remake the ugly magnets into fun, happy colorful ones. You can make them too but don't buy anything new. Just use your scraps of felt, yarn, paper or whatever you find and a bit of glue. Enjoy making!

These pictures gone wrong but I like them a lot!
