Boeddha in pink

Inspired by my friend S. who's favorite colour is pink, I made this little, but to be noticed, necklace. I wanted to keep it 'small' but not invisible. Nothing in the neck but something to show on the front. Not to obvious but not invisible too. I only used lilac, purple and pink materials. Used paperbeads from an old necklace, (recycled) glass beads and two handfelted balls with a nice cap. The pink Boeddha makes it complete. (Soon in the shop.)
Enjoy the weekend! Don't get to bumped with an hour less sleep... Just enjoy spring!

Picture this

As promised a better picture a the key-bagchain. Here you can see better that it's nice 3-dimensional and about 20 cm long.
And I worked on a new flowervase cover. I found some balls 'jute' yarn in the thriftstore. I can't define the material precise. It's a bit like jute, sisal, really raw with sometimes pieces of wood in the thread. Definitely natural, pure material and when I saw it, I immediatly knew I would make organic shaped flowervase covers from it. Beautiful to use with stylish flowers. Or just one pure flower branch... So with this one also.. I promise a better picture! Including a flower to make it all complete.

Things

Grrrr.. no table anymore! And I had it all planned out for the day. So that went completly different and I just didn't have my day today. And what's better then putting negative energy in cleaning the house, do some administration and add vintage to the shop? Maybe tomorrow some new crocheted work. Enjoy your evening!

Project: refurniture, redecorate, remake, reorganize..

After eight years being and living as a student in Amsterdam, I moved here, to Leiden, to a normal grown-up house! Because I did house exchange, I knew quit a while but we had to wait for all the paperwork. While waiting, I worked hard to make myself a new interior. All my stuff here is bought in a thriftstore or throught Internet and everything is refurbished by me. I'm really happy with how everything worked out! And I'm still very happy in my home.

But now we're four years further and it's time to give the walls new paint, do something about that chair that's not comfortable anymore or and so more things to do. So that's a project I'm starting on. And off course I'll show you results. But as said, I'm just starting now!
I already did some searching for a new (thriftstore) chair, I need a little cabin and another coffee table. I think I found a new coffee table. I'm going back to the thriftstore today, (hope it's still there) and start with that one. Because I did some searching for new furniture, I found some other great stuff, like this cute table, which is on the picture. I'm sooooo happy with that one! I love these retro tiles on them! I'm definitely going to paint the wood but that's for later, if I decided where to use it.

I have a piece of wall in my corridor where I hung up a wooden plate which I painted lilac. I have all kind of pictures and things hanging on it. I like that board but it's not hanging on a great spot, so while redecorating everything, that one is getting another spot. Supplemented with new pictures and little things. Like my new bird tile! Don't you love that one too?? And I found another 'Holly Hobby' tile. Have one already but I love these pictures. So sweet!

'peace' of mind

..It's pretty busy in my head lately.. Not the happy, nice pretty busy. I know now I can stop chaos with good music. Which goes from singing and moving loud with Justin Timberlake, trying the french chansons with Wende Snijders and Jacques Brel and bursting my longs out with Anouk and Robbie Williams.. It works for me. A good book, a column from Martin Bril, seeing beautiful pictures and art can work too. Like this one. Pure, calm, quiet, fresh, natural. Perfect for a pretty busy mind.

Natural and recycled Keychain

Today was a nice, inside crafting day! I needed to finish a order for a laptop bag and I wanted to make a keychain for my aunt. As a small gift because she helped me. So I made a keychain but that's already in a bag, ready for the mailbox. (forgot the picture..) Made the bag and had energy left for another keychain. Except the chain itself and the felt balls, it's completly handmade with recycled, and natural materials. All wood chains are from old bracelets and necklaces, the circles are leftovers, 100% blankets with bright sewed lines and I added old brown, leather and wooden buttons and a stripe old lace work. It doesn't show so well on the picture.. It's pretty big and 3-dimensional but I'll show you this week. When the day is over, it's over! (..which also means bad lightning for pictures, in which reminds me how glad I am days are getting longer already and you can hear more birds are back in town!, but I'm happy, when in two weeks summertime is starting and light is longer with us!) Gonna make some caffee latte and catch a couch! Bye.

PURE purple

Thanks for all the tips on my new-secondhand-never worn-too big-favorite jeans! But I'm not going to make a skirt out of it, or something else but give it to Patricia. I think that's a better idea and it's nice to make someone happy with 'new' jeans.

Meanwhile it's a busy week here. Seen a lot of friends, busy with work and enjoyed a short stay with my sister and brother-in-law but mostly with little Olivia. So not much time to be creative but I did finish up a new PURE babyblanket, early this week. I'm still working on a two person blanket but tjeezz, that is so heavy at the end. It's not possible to keep on working/sewing with so much weight. So I'm working in (time) parts and hope to finish that one next week.
My ideas to combine felt, beads, blankets and crochet are getting more and more shape. I'm soooo excited about that. Hope to have the time to work on that really soon!!! Can't wait...
Be back in the weekend, (hope with some thriftstore catches which I'm heading to this afternoon) but for now already, have a nice weekend!

Perfect jeans

I found my perfect jeans on a flea market in Amsterdam, yesterday. It's perfect! It's a Lee jeans, has blue and white thin stripes, it's 'nice' used, has straight legs and it has old fashion braces, set with buttons. Love, love, love that!! It's perfect. A 'manly' working jeans. Cool with a t-shirt on it, as well as a blouse or a long vest, with boots or sneakers.

But here it is.. and I knew that, but had to buy it anyway. It's too big. It's a size 32 and I'm way, way more tiny. But I loved it so much and just hoped that if I would wash it very hot it would shrink, four, five sizes.. Yeah I know, I dream high hopes! So that didn't work and I see no options to remake it anywhere, or how to make me fit it.

So if you love this jeans, like I do... And you really, really have to love it because it's my favorite one-day-old, secondhand, never worn by me - jeans! Then mail me (it's about 88 cm around the waist and 112 cm long), convince me and I'll resell my perfect jeans to you.

'Get your feet up high!'

It took me quit a while but finally I finished my BIG crochet project. Tadaaa, one colorful, recycled handmade footbench, named 'Get your feet up high!' !! And oke, it's the second time I say it this week, but damn I'm proud of this one!!!! It's beautiful, I think! So bright, and colorful. A real eye-catcher!
I bought the footbench in the thriftstore and sanded it completly, checked the seat and renewed it where it was needed. Painted the legs a few times (they were dark brown wood) and finally used a white polish paint. The crochted seat is attatched to the bench so it's real lining (is that the correct were to say that the cloth is stucked on the wood?).

This one is definitely a new, staying, product in my ORIGINAL line. I think it is original too! I already have two new/old foot benches to work with. This on is going in the shop. Best part on this one.. It can go with the mail because the legs can be screwed off. The 'new' footbenched I'm working on, don't have that but this one can be turned into a small package.

Here's a bit sun today, so I'm heading of outside, to the market!
Enjoy your weekend!

Live life laptop bag

My 'buuf' (my neighbor) has a new mini-laptop and asked me if I could make a laptop bag for it. A soft bag which you can use to carry the laptop but also has the function of protection. So I made one for her but I went crazy on the idea so I experimented with another laptop bag.

And this is why I started to felt in the first place.. To combine with other textile techniques like crochet but also with my PURE line, the recycled blankets. So here's the first one (for a normal size laptop) and I like it very much, if I may say so!!! It's not perfect yet because the size isn't right. It has to be a centimeter of 3, 4 longer. But the idea, the felting on it, the model is perfect, I think.

and how about this face.. isn't she cute with my hat?!
